Jeff Young, Kinesiologist, CSCS, USAW has served as the Fitness Coordinator at Mount Sinai Beth Israel’s Center for Health and Healing – the most comprehensive academic Integrative Medicine and Medical Fitness facility in the U.S. -- from 2006 to 2010, and 2011 to present, transitioning patients with chronic disease and/or orthopedic issues from the acute stage to activities of daily living, general fitness, and performance enhancement. He has an extensive background in medical fitness, which has included working as staff at Duke University Medical Center and the Center for Sports Medicine at Penn State, as well as serving as Fitness Educator for Beth Israel Medical Center’s Friedman Diabetes Institute and UCLA Medical Center’s Gonda Diabetes Institute. As a member of the Board of Directors for Penn State University’s Kinesiology Alumni Program he performs classroom guest lectures and program design workshops at Main Campus, and mentors Kinesiology students and alumni on concepts in medical fitness, principles of injury prevention and post rehabilitation, and principles of program design. As a continuing education Provider for the National Academy of Sports Medicine and the American Council on Exercise, Jeff performs monthly seminars and workshops for Fitness Professionals on the integration of exercise science and therapeutic guidelines, marrying theory and application. In 2015 he will begin providing continuing education through the Medical Fitness Association. Additionally, Jeff regularly presents seminars and workshops at hospitals, colleges, and universities on topics related to medical fitness, and he is a member of the Medical Fitness Association and the National Strength and Conditioning Association.
